The Virginia Beach FunkFest Beach Party is the heart and soul of the weekend-long event, Africana Virginia Beach, bringing a variety of cultural music, dance demonstrations, specialty vendors, and more. The festival features free concerts, great food, and arts & crafts on the beach, boardwalk, and park at 24th Street.

🏄East Coast Surfing Championships: August 18-25

The East Coast Surfing Championships is North America’s longest, continuously running surfing competition. Known to locals and patrons as ECSC, the competition is also the second-longest continuously-run surfing contest in the world. The best of the best compete at ECSC, including more than 200 of the world’s top professional male and female surfers, as well as an estimated 300 amateur surfers.

Make Virginia Beach your Labor Day destination! Celebrate the 19th anniversary running of Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach! The sounds of rock, jazz, country, R&B, and more flood the Virginia Beach oceanfront for three sun-filled days over Labor Day Weekend at the American Music Festival. One of the largest outdoor music events on the East Coast, the American Music Festival brings together national, regional, and local acts to play on a gigantic stage erected on the beach at 5th Street, as well as stages in all the parks along the boardwalk.
