North American Sand Soccer Championships
June 9 – 11 Virginia Beach Oceanfront

Known internationally as the “Gran Prix” of beach/sand soccer the North American Sand Soccer Tournament is not only world famous, but with a 93% player return rate, it is also a well-loved sporting event unlike any other. This “World Cup” equivalent of international amateur beach soccer events is hard to miss and attracts teams from all over, including nearly 20 states and entries from as far away as Africa, Portugal, Germany, Brazil, Norway’s rocky seacoasts, the Caribbean, and the wilds of Canada’s Northwest Territories. Whether you choose to play on a team or cheer from the sideline, you won’t want to miss the NASSC!

Beyond the men’s pro/am U.S. OPEN, other adult sports tentatively scheduled in 2017 include Beach COED Flag Football, Beach Field Hockey, Beach Lacrosse, Beach Wrestling, and All-Volley Futbol. Each of these special competitions will bring additional beach sports excitement to the Oceanfront for participants and spectators, while further enhancing the “beach games” festival atmosphere of NASSC

USO Warrior Week
MAY 29 – JUNE 4, 2017 VIRGINIA BEACH, VA

Holiday Inn Virginia Beach Oceanside is a proud sponsor of USO Warrior Week. USO Warrior Week invites wounded, ill, and injured service members to participate in various therapeutic and recreational activities in hopes to aid in their recovery. The week culminates with the annual Patriotic Festival, a three-day music concert series, to honor our service members and their families.

Pungo Strawberry Festival 2017
May 26 – May 28

The 34th annual Pungo Strawberry Festival will take place Memorial Day weekend, May 26-28, in the fields surrounding 1776 Princess Anne Road near Indian River Road. The festival celebrates the agricultural heritage of Pungo and one of its most prized commodities: its delicious strawberries! It also pays homage to the region‟s many military service members and the sacrifices made by them and their families.

Pirate Party on the Beach
May 20, 2017 to May 21, 2017
LOCATION – Dairy Queen Grill & Chill 17th Street Park

The Pirate Party on the Beach returns to the Virginia Beach oceanfront for two fun days of music, mayhem, and more!  This family-friendly event features activities designed to bring out the “pirate” in everyone.  Pirate games, treasure hunt, and pirate re-enactors all combine to celebrate those scallywags we all wish we could be: pirates!

Other activities throughout the weekend include bandana-making, face-painting, weapons demonstrations, and shopping for pirate-themed merchandise.

Pirate re-enactors will abound, with those founding pirates of Pirate Party on the Beach, The Moody Crewe, leading the way with educational displays and lively interaction.  Pirate Party on the Beach is also pleased to welcome Blackbeard’s Crew to the event for the first time!

Pirate Party on the Beach is FREE and open to the public.

May 12, 2017 to May 14, 2017 – On the beach between 5th and 7th Streets

Calling all monsters! The 4 Wheel Parts Monsters on the Beach, presented by Pungo Off Road, brings thrills and chills to the Virginia Beach oceanfront as Monster Trucks battle for ultimate sand domination! This family-targeted event is loud, fast, and exciting. A course is built right on the beach at 6th Street, with bleachers overlooking from the boardwalk. Sand dunes and junk cars combine to make the race course fast and fun for drivers and spectators alike. This is a ticketed event, with prices designed to fit the family budget.  Each of the four shows is approximately 2 hours in length.
