Virginia Beach commemorates the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War

Virginia Beach commemorates the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War and honors the country’s prisoners of war and those missing in action (POW-MIA) with special events planned for Nov. 7-11.

Free, Public Events Include:

  • The Moving Wall, a half-size traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., on display 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Nov. 7-11, at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, 1000 19th St., in Hall D.
  • Military vehicles, displays and more at the Virginia Beach Convention Center
  • Annual Tidewater Veterans Day Parade, 9 a.m., Nov. 11, starting at 16th Street and Atlantic Avenue in Virginia Beach
  • Annual Tidewater Veterans Day Ceremony, 11 a.m., Nov. 11, at the Tidewater Veterans Memorial, across from the Virginia Beach Convention Center, 1000 19th St.
  • MIA Ceremony, 10 a.m.-noon, Nov. 9, Virginia Beach Convention Center, Hall D. Reading of the names of 1,566 current MIAs from Vietnam, wreath-laying and the playing of Taps.
